A Fairground AttractionI was tidying away some boxes today and found an old shoebox full of mixtapes. Funny how certain songs can take you back to a moment in time. So Brother Louie by Modern Talking started playing, and i'm back in 1986 at the local funfair in Campbeltown. I'm crossing between the Waltzers and the Dodgems, and you can smell the candyfloss, and diesel, and for some reason there's a certain static in the air, and i've got that wee bit of excitement building up in my belly. Honestly, no alcohol was involved, but for some reason that giddy feeling had my head spinning. Probably the hormones building up, well i was almost 14 and starting to notice I wasn't quite the same in regards to crushes as my pals, and obviously the guys in 'Modern Talking' were quite pretty. So today on 'National Coming Out Day', what would I tell my wee teenage self at that time? Enjoy the crushes, enjoy just being a crazy teenager, don't keep worrying that you'll 'just have to get married and try and live a 'normal' life. Everything will work out...and that at the same time there's quite a few people, at school going through the same thing. So happy 'National Coming Out Day' to everyone, and as a wee celebration here's that song from Modern Talking. Have a sweet night, and i'll see ye tomorrow!
